Day 192: 100 Trillion Little Things

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. –2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

The human brain can hold 100 trillion thoughts. When they all decide to parade through our minds at 3:00 a.m., we’re not going to get much sleep. I often wish we had a shut off switch for our brains. We may not be able to control when thoughts come, but we can control what we think about. If you have one of those gloom and doom friends, do you call him or her up on Monday morning and invite this friend to come hang out with you all day? Of course not. Yet, we wake up, a negative thought pops into our heads, and we’re off to the races. “Ugh…it’s Monday. I hate Mondays. It’s going to be a long, rotten day,” and thus, the bad day begins. What if instead of allowing those negative thoughts to ruin the day before it even starts, we replace them with positive ones. If we can handle 100 trillion thoughts, why not make them positive, uplifting, encouraging ones? I challenge you to try it for a week; you’ll be amazed at how much happier you’ll be. Take every thought captive, cast down evil imaginations, and proclaim with faith, “No matter what comes, I will be glad.”

prayer focuses

By not making a decision, you’ve already lost the battle.

Choose your thoughts wisely. Pray for wisdom to see the pitfalls and the set-up the enemy knows you’ll fall for. Avoid his snares.
