Control Freak

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. –Exodus 14:14 NIV

All of us have had times in our lives when we’ve felt out of control. We tend to believe that being in control would give us security as we decide what happens and when. Having command over a situation may make us feel safe, and it may temporarily calm our fears. But it’s all just an illusion, for we are never really in control. We have no power over the weather, unexpected illnesses, the death of a loved one, or the will of a teenager. We didn’t decide our birth, and we don’t dictate our death. It’s all out of our hands. We are not in control, but we do have hope.

When we surrender our need for control to the Lord, accepting the fact that we don’t have all the answers, peace is restored. It is not until we ask for the Lord’s guidance that we find serenity. When we submit to the One who loves us and accepts us, we can stop being afraid. No matter what comes, we become like children, trusting our Papa to show us the way, knowing that every battle we face is the Lord’s.

Dear Lord, please guide me along Your path in all that I do today.

Thank You, dear Heavenly Father, that You are working for me and never against me.
