“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.” -Mark 16:6 NIV
As Christians, we believe in Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus was crucified, died, and rose from the dead. He took our punishment upon Himself. He did this knowing that not one of us was without sin. Today, the resurrected Christ also lives in the heart of every believer. It is only by His resurrection that His righteousness can be imputed to us. Faith is what unites us to Christ—if you trust and believe in Him. We are forgiven sons and daughters of God with an eternal inheritance in heaven that can never be taken away. Our past can’t be changed, but our future can. When you give your life to Him, there is a heart change that takes place. He conquered sin and death so we can have a new life. There are no hopeless cases. We don’t deserve God’s grace, but God showed us His love and has promised to redeem us! He offers hope to everyone who has been born again. Jesus promised in John 11:25-26 (NIV), “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Today, as we celebrate Easter or Resurrection Sunday as some call it, let us focus on Jesus’ resurrection and supreme love for us!
Jesus, even knowing how You would suffer, You still choose to come to earth and die for me. Thank You for loving me that much!
Lord, we thank You for blessing us with the free gift of salvation and eternal life.
