When and Then

I will always show you where to go. I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest of places—firm muscles, strong bones. You’ll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. –Isaiah 58:11 MSG

Do you have a when-and-then mentality—when this happens, then I will be happy? According to Pastor Rick Warren, this is a choice problem. Happiness is a personal decision. You are as happy as you choose to be. Do you long to be joyful? Then, choose to enjoy what God has provided for you now. You will always have dreams and certain longings, but these should not affect your current outlook. God will provide for you when you invite Him into your daily life. “Ask, and you will receive” is the promise of Matthew 7:7 (GW). So, seek God daily when making decisions. A wonderful way to greet your heavenly Father each morning is to thank Him for your life and all He has done for you. Seek His wisdom, and allow His light to shine through so you can lead others to Jesus. Don’t get stuck in the “when this happens, then I will be happy” syndrome. Choose to live a God-directed life and walk in confidence with the Holy Spirit by your side.
