Ambassadors for Christ

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. –1 Peter 2:9 NKJV

The apostle Paul refers to Christians as being “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NKJV). As an ambassador, you are appointed by God to be His representative to others, proclaiming His good news of salvation. In this capacity, you become a reflection of God. Being entrusted with this assignment is both an incredible honor as well as an extraordinary responsibility. God trusts you with the job of demonstrating His character through your own life. An individual’s perception of God can be either clarified or distorted by your words and actions. Do others see you as faithful, kind, honest, compassionate, and forgiving? These are only a few of the traits of our loving Father. Wherever God places you, you represent Him to the people of the world. It is vital to take time to study the character of God, thinking about how others see God through you, and determining to make the necessary changes in order to become a better reflection of Him. Paul explains this in his letter to Timothy, “Do your best to please God. Be a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed. Teach the message of truth correctly” (2 Timothy 2:15 NIRV).
