Getting Dressed in the Morning

He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head…and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak. –Isaiah 59:17 NIV

The phrase “armor of God” is derived from Ephesians 6:11 (NIV): “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Believers are invited to don God's own armor, as described in today's verse (Isaiah 59:17). For God is our Divine Warrior. Each morning when we awake, we must prepare ourselves for the day by putting on God’s protective gear! This might mean rising extra early to read God’s Word, spending time in prayer, or turning on worship music to get our mindset focused on Him. Our daily prayers and devotions are vital to help us grow in our relationship with God and help us to “put on the full armor of God.” With the Holy Spirit by our side and our spiritual armor equipped, we can better withstand Satan’s attacks. We can depend on God to strengthen us even when Satan is sending attack after attack at us. The armor of God shields and safeguards us against Satan's temptations and the harm he inflicts. Remember, as we ready ourselves in the morning, we must always equip ourselves with the armor of God.
