God Wants to Spend Time With You

John 15:15; Matthew 28:20

Did you know that God longs to be with you? Have you ever been in a relationship that felt one-sided? It’s draining, frustrating, and unfulfilling, but that’s not the case with God. He desires a relationship with us. To understand this, you have to know that God’s character and nature is not like any human who has let you down.  He is love. He loves you unconditionally and He gave His son to restore the relationship back with you. Even Jesus said, “I no longer call you servants, but friends.” We all need a friend like that. One who will “lay down their life for us.” One who will “never leave us nor forsake us.”  So, if you ever feel alone, the truth is that when You ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, He already said, “surely I am with you always.” Even in those moments that you feel like God isn’t answering your prayers, the truth is He’s close by, “closer than a brother” Perhaps He’s just leading your heart to listen. In this season of prayer and fasting ask yourself, “Have I been doing all of the talking?” “Does God want to say something to me?”  “Am I willing to do what He says?” It may seem scary at first to surrender your entire life to God, but you’ll never regret seeking Him, serving Him, befriending Him and following Him. When you invest in your relationship with Him the more you will be aware of His presence.  He’ll be able to bless you in ways you never imagined.

How do you see God? Do you see him as your friend? Imagine speaking to Him as a friend, what would you say?

prayer focuses

Lord, help me to understand how to have a relationship with you as my Father, friend, and teacher. Help me to open my ears to hear your words, and the courage to accept the invitation to follow you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
