Turn Around

…But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. –Luke 15:20 NIV

Are you familiar with the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15? This parable teaches us about how God will always welcome home the lost—no sin is too great for Him to forgive. It’s a story full of hope for every believer praying for the repentance and salvation of a lost loved one. Maybe you are fervently praying for someone’s salvation and it seems like the person is such a long way off from Jesus. Maybe it seems like the person’s heart is too hardened. Be encouraged! In this story, a few words stand out, “But while he was still a long way off.” That’s right, the prodigal son was still a long way off from his father’s home. Yet, when the son turned from the world and turned toward his father, his father ran to embrace him, leading him the rest of the way home. Just because someone seems a long way off, don’t give up. Keep praying. Jesus is running to meet the person wherever they are—no matter the distance it takes to come home.
