A New Thing

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? –Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV

We each react differently when exposed to adversity. One person goes through a tragedy and stays stuck there for life, while another goes through a similar misfortune and uses it for good. We all face trials and temptations of some kind. First Corinthians 10:13 (GW) tells us, “There isn’t any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans. God, who faithfully keeps his promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist. But when you are tempted, he will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape.”

God is faithful, and He will not allow anything we face to be more than we can bare. Whether we’re tempted or in despair, we can find strength in the Lord through faith and hope. Our Lord provides us with the ability to endure. Through times of trouble, we must turn to God, not relying on ourselves or others. “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’” (Psalm 91:1-2 NIV). God uses our trials to mature and strengthen us. Through all of the trials of life, we need to seek Him and trust Him. He’s always faithful.

prayer focuses

Father, help me to seek Your plan for my life and not follow the way that seems right to man.

Lord, I pray that any trials I face may serve to further Your kingdom on Earth.
