A New View of You

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. –1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT

When you received Jesus, the Holy Spirit took up residence in you, and your body became a dwelling place of God. The Holy Spirit brought all that God is—His life, wisdom, power, and protection, along with His Kingdom—to live in you. Think about that for a moment. God chose your body as His home and a place to conduct Kingdom business.Your body is now the temple of the Holy Spirit. A temple is defined as a consecrated place of prayer and worship; a splendid, royal building, such as a king would possess, providing shelter and protection. Apply that definition to your body. No matter how you view your body, God chose it as His home. He sees your body as a set-apart sanctuary. He describes it as splendid and royal. God bought you with the high price of the blood of His Son. He owns you—spirit, soul, and body.Accept that truth. Get a new view, seeing yourself as the treasure you are. View your body as a royal edifice of God. Then, offer it back to Him as a living sacrifice, allowing His Spirit to honor God in your body.
