Do you know the story of King Solomon? As successor to the throne of Israel, God offers to grant him one request. Because he asked for wisdom instead of wealth, victory, or longevity, God granted to him what he asked and much more.Have you ever stopped to seriously contemplate what you would ask for if the Lord gave you an open offer to ask for anything? No exceptions. No strings. No fine print. Just anything!Before you brush aside this idea, consider this…the offer has already been made to you. Jesus said, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7 ESV). In light of this, how often do you default to asking for what amounts to long life, wealth, and death to enemies—unlike what Solomon asked for in 1 Kings 3:9?So, just for a moment, raise your thoughts above your own personal concerns and commit to asking the Lord for the strength and faithfulness necessary to honor His name.
