The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer…. –Psalm 18:2 NIV
Any builder knows that laying a foundation is the first part of constructing any lasting structure. The quality of that foundation determines if and how long that structure will remain standing through the various storms that come its way.Like a building, our lives and decisions must first rest on a solid foundation that will weather the storms of life. In Matthew 7:25 (NIV), Jesus states, “The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” This Rock is Jesus Christ and God’s Word. From this solid foundation, we can boldly step forward to construct a life that will last for eternity. We must strive to apply God’s Word. By studying His Word, the Bible, you can learn many new principles and commands regarding the use of your time, talents, and treasures. With that wisdom comes responsibility. James 1:22 (NASB) states, “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves.” We must use our talents for His glory. Seek to apply just one or two things you have learned, and keep your eyes open for how God is going to keep His faithful promises to you.
Holy Spirit, please help me to listen to Your voice and make decisions that align with what You are telling me.
Father, I want to use my talents for Your glory! Please show me how I can do that this week.
