Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way, prosperity will come to you. –Job 22:21 NIV
In Job 22, Eliphaz, one of Job’s friends, attempted to explain the reason for Job’s suffering. Laying aside comfort for condemnation, Eliphaz accused Job of specific sins and exhorted him to repent. Although his view of God was incomplete and his response to Job’s suffering was skewed, Eliphaz’s call to repentance holds a vital truth for us today. “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way, prosperity will come to you” (Job 22:21 NIV).
Spend time in God’s Word. Allow His Spirit to reveal His heart and what He has already spoken. Then in spite of your circumstances, agree with God. In this way, you will be at peace. One Word from God can change your life forever. Ask God to reveal His Word concerning your situation. In spite of how you feel or how it appears, choose to agree with God. Show yourself to be conformed to His will by speaking His Word. Peace will prevail, good will come, and you will flourish.
God, I want to know Your heart and mind. Holy Spirit, reveal the Word to me for my situation and help me submit to it.
Father, show me where my words and actions have not agreed with Your will. I choose to agree with Your Word over my circumstances.
