Armor of God – Part 1

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. –Ephesians 6:13 NIV

As our world battles a vicious virus, we hear much about PPE (personal protective equipment), such as masks and gloves. But as Christians, we are fighting more than germs. Our conflict is often not as much a war with outside forces but one from within. Each day, we need to be prepared for battle. On the day we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and invited His Holy Spirit to dwell within us, He did not come empty-handed. He presented us with a set of body armor for protection. But to reap the benefits, we are required to put on the full armor of God—and keep it on.Ephesians 6:14-17 lists six pieces of equipment needed for a victorious life: 1) belt of truth, 2) breastplate of righteousness, 3) footwear of readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, 4) shield of faith, 5) helmet of salvation, and 6) sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. We need to not only know how to wear and use this armor, but to determine that each piece of this PPE is secure and available for battle in all hours of the day and night.

prayer focuses

Dear Lord, thank You for all of the armor You have given me to use in battle.

Please help me, Lord, to keep Your armor on always so that I will be protected, prepared, and victorious for You.
