Armor of God – Part 6

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. …Take the helmet of salvation…. –Ephesians 6:11,17 NIV

Within the head is the control center for the entire body. Each of our thoughts, words, and actions is initiated there. Soldiers are given a helmet in battle to protect their heads. Our spiritual helmet is the knowledge of salvation. It is the blessed assurance that we have an eternal destination with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With this helmet on, we can keep our eyes focused on the goal and our minds free from distractions. No matter what circumstances or temptations come our way, we can rest in the knowledge that we are saved from the consequences of sin and death. Knowing that we already have the victory in Jesus, we can stand strong, living abundant lives.“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV). With the helmet of salvation firmly in place, we can keep our ultimate destination in view. “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14 NIV).
