Armor of God – Part 7

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground…. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. –Ephesians 6:13,17 NIV

Once our spiritual armor is on, there is one more essential piece of equipment needed for victory in battle, the sword of the spirit. The Word of God, His Holy Bible, is the all-powerful, two-edged sword that our Lord has provided each of us to live victorious lives in this tumultuous world.“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12 RSV).The Bible is an extraordinary gift that is essential in winning souls for Christ during the day and for helping us to rest in peace through the night. It convicts us, guides us, encourages us, and connects us to our almighty Father.“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV). Study the Word daily, write it on your heart, and use it in both small skirmishes and major conflicts to further the Kingdom of God.
