Breakthrough

So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the Lord drives. –Isaiah 59:19 ESV

Breakthrough: a sudden, dramatic, and important discovery or development. Synonyms can include a quantum leap forward, a step in the right direction, or an improvement. The term is also used in warfare, referring to the penetration beyond and through an enemy’s defensive front line.

In some form or fashion, we all need a breakthrough. Nothing feels better than finally getting past the attack and on to victory. We experience a sense of relief when the sun breaks through the clouds after a storm passes. But better yet is the feeling of peace of mind and heart when we break through attacks on our souls. When the SON shines on us, He brings clarity, peace, and joy, calming the storms of life.

When the enemy attacks, we need to trust in the Lord’s strength. “Your leader will break out and lead you out of exile, out through the gates of the enemy cities, back to your own land. Your king will lead you; the Lord himself will guide you” (Micah 2:13 NLT). When we are in the midst of a battle, breaking through can often seem impossible. The enemies’ schemes, strategies, and overwhelming threats often make us tremble in fear. But we must not forget who is leading us in battle. So, charge, break through, and don’t retreat. The battle is the Lord’s.
