How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. –Acts 10:38 NIV
How much oil can an oil pipeline carry? It varies between 50,000 and 300,000 barrels of oil per day. That’s right—at least 50,000 barrels of oil per day! And that’s the low end. Now can you imagine that oil pipeline transporting just a trickle, a few little droplets of oil? What a colossal waste of potential! As a follower of Jesus, you are a carrier of His oil. You may not have a 300,000-barrel capacity. Maybe your capacity is only a thousand or so. Yet, the oil you carry can mean life or death to those around you. What if your hundreds of barrels of oil dwindles down to five or less? Why would you let that happen? Maybe the better question is: why would it happen? Apathy? Self-hatred? Unbelief? Unresolved bitterness? Now ask yourself this: is my comfort, apathy, and selfishness worth the consequence of denying His oil, which symbolizes His Spirit, to a lost and dying world? As Jesus-followers, we have a limitless capacity to carry Him to others. The world doesn’t need a superstar preacher. It needs you. It needs me.
Lord, the world needs Your oil!
Lord, I need Your help to fulfill Your calling on my life to be Your oil-carrier!
