The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven! –Deuteronomy 28:7 NLT

When I was a kid, the Fuller Brush man used to come to our house with his bag of miracle products. The one most memorable to me was a degreaser, which would be the equivalent of Dawn dish soap today. The salesman asked my mom for a greasy pan; and since we fried everything back then, that wasn’t a problem. He put water in the pan and then added one drop of his miracle cleaner. Like magic the grease retreated and disappeared, fleeing from the power of the cleaner. In the late 1950s, that was pretty spectacular. This demonstration seemed to sell the product every time.Deuteronomy 28:7 says that the Lord will conquer our enemies. When our enemies come against us, God will protect us and make them flee. I picture that messy, greasy pan, desperately in need of cleaning, as my heart before Christ. With just one drop of God’s grace, love, and forgiveness, all that mess disappears.Sin cannot overcome God’s goodness, and His love always dispels and removes sin. If just one drop of God’s grace can do all that, imagine what being covered by it can do. God pours His Spirit into our hearts, covering us forever. May His goodness “Dawn” on you today.

prayer focuses

Lord, when the enemy comes against me, help me submit to You and resist the devil, who will then flee because he can’t stand against God.

Fight for me, Lord! Help me trust that Light always overcomes the darkness.
