Defeating Disappointment

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. –Psalm 36:5 NIV

The Bible contains great stories of God’s faithfulness to vindicate and elevate His followers. But each of us may, at times, wonder, “Where is my ‘save the day’ moment?”The Bible never promises that God will work everything out the way we want it to be. That’s why believers can never place expectations and hope in this life. We have to look beyond our temporary circumstances and set our sights on what we can count on—the faithfulness and love of God. Only He can deliver on the promise of a disappointment-free future that extends far beyond our few years here on this earth (see Revelation 21:1-5).So, while we wait, we remember that God doesn’t leave us here to suffer and endure alone. He is with us, and He is greater than any unexplained circumstances that come our way. For His children, He always births good from the ashes of the bad (Romans 8:28). However, it may take a while for us to see this transformation, if ever, on this earth. In the meantime, we need to anchor ourselves to the truth of Scripture and trust in our God who is faithful to give us the One we most desperately need—Jesus (John 1:29)!
