Develop a Thankful Heart

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart…. –Luke 6:45 NIV

Joyce Meyers said, “Life is not your circumstances, the kind of house you live in, the kind of job you have or how much money you have. You can have the best of these things and still be miserable. On the other hand, it’s amazing how happy and peaceful you can be in the middle of the lousiest circumstances, including the turmoil that’s going on in the world today, if you keep your heart in the right condition.”

Make sure that your heart is in the right condition because it forms your thoughts and the attitudes that shape the essence of who you are. The heart is the center of your being. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) warns, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

What is the condition of your heart? Is it happy and peaceful, or is it miserable? Maybe the medicine you need is gratitude. Thank God for what you do have. Even if you don’t feel thankful, thank God anyway. You will soon begin to feel uplifted, encouraged, and joyful.
