“...Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” –Luke 22:42 NKJV
What is that one thing (or person) that you are unwilling to surrender to God today? Ask yourself, do you really know better than the Creator of the world and all who are in it? Or, just might there be limits to your own understanding? Our sense of urgency to fix, fight, and manipulate our own lives and the lives of those around us stems from a need to control. And that need is usually born out of fear. To surrender means to cease to resist; to completely give up. If you wait to surrender, the end is sure. The pain, shame, or guilt will eventually become greater than the burden. You will become so sick that there is no choice but to give it up. Why wait? Over and over, Scripture reminds us that our lives, our decisions, and our destiny are to be shaped by God—not by our own feelings or pressure from others. Don’t just give in toJesus—give up. Surrender it all. A beautiful old hymn, written more than 100 years ago by Judson W. Van DeVenter, tells the story of surrender. Let the refrain be your mantra today: “I surrender all, I surrender all, ALL to Thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all.”
Thank God that He is the Source of all understanding.
Ask Him to help you surrender all your wants, wishes, and worries, holding nothing back.
