What is your greatest desire? Is it for wealth, respect, security, or marital bliss? There are a variety of goals that you might strive toward, but your ultimate desire should be to know God intimately. God is far more real than the world you can see, hear, or touch.He is your Creator, and His desire is to dwell within you. Jesus promises, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23 RSV). Isn’t it incredible that the God of the universe desires to be one with you?Keep worldly treasures in perspective. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” (Matthew 6:19-20 RSV).“Man is like a breath, his days are like a passing shadow” (Psalm 144:4 ESV). “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV). Therefore, seek the Lord with all your heart.
