Today's reading

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. –Romans 12:1-2 NIV

Day 342: Live in Freedom: Renewing Your Mind—Freedom is Possible When We Change Our Thinking

The dictionary defines transformation as to change in condition, nature, or character—convert. Before Christ, you are conformed by a world vision that is eager to tell you how to look and act. It shades your thinking, blurs the lines between right and wrong, and defines your values.God’s Word is clear that when you surrender your life to Him and are born again, you are brand-new. At that moment, transformation begins as you look at the world through a new set of eyes. It is a choice you have to make every day—conform or transform? As you choose to read God’s Word, sing His praises, and immerse yourself in a good solid church that teaches truth, your thinking will become sharper and His values will become your own. There is no shortcut. Your mind has to be continually filled with truth, or you will risk drifting back to your old ways. When you are faithful to renew your mind, you open yourself up to discern the will of God. To know what is good, acceptable, and even perfect. You are transformed!

prayer focuses

Pray for God to give you wisdom to seek transformation over conformation.

Thank God for the transformational power of Jesus.
