Today's reading

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. –Colossians 1:15-23 NIV

Day 351: Know God: Supremacy of Christ

In simplest terms, to affirm the supremacy of Christ is to affirm that Jesus is God. As a Christian, you’ve been adopted into this royal family. You’re a King’s kid, an heir of God, one with Jesus, and given the very life of Christ Himself. You’re seated with Jesus at the right hand of the Father. His Spirit dwells within to fill and empower you. As Christ’s ambassador, you walk in His authority and protection. You are built to overcome. You are holy and without blemish because of the supremacy of Christ and the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Through Jesus you are free from accusation; you have hope in the gospel as your foundation and encouragement in every situation. You are to hold firm to your faith in God, redemption in Jesus, and foundation on the Scriptures. When the devil challenges your identity and your faith, you can’t afford to sit idly by, allowing him to bombard your brain with negative, fear-filled lies. You can’t afford to dabble in doubt or go wading in worry. You have to take action to overcome. What you do with what you know makes the difference between overcoming or camping out in misery. Know Jesus cares, He’s for you, and He’s already won. Remind yourself of who Jesus is and who you are in Him. Jesus is your Mighty Warrior and Great High Priest, interceding for you, standing with you. Jesus will fight in the unseen realm for you. He is your Deliverer and has promised to rescue you from every assault of evil. Call on Jesus. Keep calling on Him. You will overcome!
