Fearfully & Wonderfully Made

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 NIV

What does it mean to be fearfully and wonderfully made? One definition of fear is “to have a reverential awe of.” Wonderfully means “ideally” or “magnificently.” We were each designed to reflect our Creator’s awesomeness, uniquely formed in the image of God and made to be distinct from the rest of creation. Humans are not like birds, fish, or other creatures. We were each designed and fashioned by God in His infinite wisdom and creativity. Every day, scientific discoveries are made about how our bodies function. But we will surely never know everything there is to know about the human body. It is too intricate and marvelous to fully comprehend. We praise the One who is the builder and sustainer of life. The Creator of the universe decided long before we were born that He wanted us, and He incredibly loved us into being. He put His breath in us, and we are meant to reflect His light to the world. He made us to honor and revere Him for who He is and all He has done. Praise the Lord!

prayer focuses

I praise You, God, for lovingly creating me. May I never believe the lie that I am not good enough; for the truth is that I am Your child, created for good works.

Holy Spirit, help me to glorify You in all that I do. Help me not to boast in myself but to boast in You.
