Fill My Cup

…my cup overflows. –Psalm 23:5 NIV

How thirsty are you for God? Our bodies subsist on the daily food and drinks that we consume. When we ignore nutrition and hydration, our bodies suffer. In the same way, our spiritual being will dry up and wither away if we do not nourish and hydrate our souls. The psalmist said in Psalm 42:1 (NIV), “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”

How do we nourish our spirits? How do we hydrate our souls? We do so as we draw ourselves to Jesus and spend quality time in His presence. Daily, we must nourish our spiritual bodies with the Word of life and drink from the fountain of life—Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Jesus explained in John 3:14 (NIV): “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Let us cry out to our King daily, “Fill my cup, Lord, until it overflows.”
