In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. –John 1:1 NKJV
Running our fingers through the many pages of words in the Bible, spanning from Genesis to Revelation, can be daunting. But within the parameters of these 66 books, we catch glimpses of our creator, God. Each book opens a door that reveals truths about our Holy Lord, whose love for us spans from generation to generation. We have the privilege of entering into God’s presence every time we read and meditate on His written Word. God has revealed His nature within its covers. The Bible is both a manual for living and a way to spend time with Him.
As we ponder God’s Word, we find pathways to experience Him. David understood this, addressing the Lord in Psalm 11:105 (NKJV): “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Each passage of Scripture takes on new light as we think about our own journey through this present world and into the Lord’s eternal presence. Our Lord is all-knowing and full of love for us. Through the Bible, our Lord is reaching out to us. As we read His Word, we find Him.
Holy Spirit, open my spiritual eyes so that I understand Your messages to me in Your Holy Word.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of Your Word.
