But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. –Psalm 13:5 NIV
Have you ever asked God, “Why?” Why is this happening to me? Why is my life so hard when others glide through it? Why can’t I find the perfect job? Why aren’t I healthy like my friends? Maybe you have asked these questions at points throughout your life, or maybe you are still in that “Why, God?” stage. When David wrote Psalm 13, he was asking the same questions. “How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. …But I trust in your unfailing love…” (Psalm 13:2-3,5 NLT).Verse five has the answer. Even when you don’t understand why, you can still choose to trust God’s unfailing love. God doesn’t want His people to be hurting. He loves you and only wants good things for you. God never promised that life would be easy. He promised that He would cause everything to be used for your good and His glory. You may never know the answers to your “why” questions while here on earth, but you can be sure that God has abundant blessings for you.
Thank God that even when you don’t always understand why, you can still choose to trust that He has your best interest at heart.
Pray that God will give you His peace that surpasses understanding.
