Give Comfort

...God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. –2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT

When you go through a difficult time, the Lord supplies the help you need through the Comforter—the Holy Spirit. He may also anoint and send someone to impart peace and hope to you. In Luke 22:31-32 (GW), Jesus told Peter that he would be tested by Satan. But our Lord further explained that He had prayed for him so that Peter’s faith would hold firm. Jesus then said, “...when you recover, strengthen the other disciples.”God used Peter’s testing to better equip him to help others. You are God’s ambassador—His Kingdom representative on the earth. When you experience His comfort in a time of need, you emerge with a deeper understanding of God’s love and care. You develop greater compassion for others when you know what it feels like to face a challenge. And you will be better equipped as God’s agent of comfort. If you are in a challenging season, the Comforter is with you to help you through it. There is an end and abetter season ahead. If you have experienced God’s comfort in a time of trouble, then just like Peter, you are equipped and directed to strengthen others. There’s no greater joy than allowing the God of all comfort to use you to benefit others.
