The Lego Movie has a popular song titled “EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!!” The first chorus goes, “Everything is awesome/ Everything is cool when you’re part of a team/ Everything is awesome when you’re living out a dream.” The second says, “Everything is better when we stick together/ Side by side, you and I are gonna win forever, let’s party forever/ We’re the same, I’m like you, you’re like me, we’re all working in harmony.” These lyrics point out the value of collaboration in accomplishing goals, as each person steps up and does his or her part.

It’s been said that there is no letter “I” in the word team. The Lord knew what He was doing when He gifted us differently. With a certain amount of grace and according to our unique abilities, we function together to further God’s kingdom. No one person does it all, nor can one take full credit. God connects us, like a body with many parts, so we can plan and purpose together to accomplish His work here on earth. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is. Everyone is invited to be part of the team, and everyone benefits.
