God Sees You

She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” –Genesis 16:13 NIV

In Genesis we read the story of Hagar who was Sarai’s (Sarah) Egyptian slave. Sarai could not conceive a child and decided to give Hagar to Abram (Abraham), her husband. Hagar becomes pregnant and starts to despise Sarai. So, Sarai went to Abram and told him of her suffering, and Abram told her to do whatever she wanted. As a result, Sarai mistreated Hagar, which caused Hagar to run out into the desert, for she had nowhere else to go.Hagar was lonely, rejected, and out of hope—but God sent an angel to her. God never lost sight of her. The angel spoke hope to Hagar and told her to go back to Sarai and Abram. Hagar returns with strong promises and trust that she received from God. Even in your struggles, God is watching over you. God created you. No matter what situation you may be in—you are never alone. He sees you and cares about you. He goes before you and behind you. If He could find Hagar in the desert, He knows where you are too!
