Indeed it was for my own peace that I had great bitterness; but You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back. –Isaiah 38:17 NKJV
God forgives all of our sins. This is such an incredible blessing! Micah 7:19 (NLT) speaks to the Lord, describing God’s mercy toward us: “Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!” Our Lord forgives our sins completely. Once we confess our sins, we need to forgive ourselves as well.
As Isaiah 43:25 (NKJV) says, “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.” The realization that Almighty God not only forgives all our sins but forgets them is so freeing! So, why do we let ourselves get stuck in our past sins? We must move on and stop the self-recriminations.
We should forgive not only ourselves but those around us. C.S. Lewis explains it clearly when he says, “To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” God provides us with an amazing example of this forgiveness in the person of Jesus Christ. We must ask the Holy Spirit to help us to completely forgive ourselves and others.
Ask the Lord for His help in order to forgive yourself of past sins.
Pray that the Lord will work in you to forgive the transgressions of others.
