“…Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.” –Judges 6:15-16 NKJV
Sometimes, God puts a burning desire in our hearts to get involved in particular ministries. Yet, all too often, we give in to our fears, feeling inadequate and “the least” qualified for the job. But our heavenly Father knows every aspect of our lives: our strengths, our weaknesses, our minds, and our hearts. When God called Gideon to deliver His people from the oppressive hand of the Midianites, Gideon responded, “I am the least.” But our Lord assured Gideon that He would be with him and that Gideon would defeat the Midianites.” And, true to His word, God led Gideon to victory. Each of us ought to be encouraged and hesitate no more. We need to give in to the voice of our Father and step out of our comfort zones. We each need to rely on the Holy Spirit to lead us to the very thing the Lord is asking each of us to do.In our heavenly Father’s eyes, none of us is “the least.” Each of us is a beautiful and capable vessel that the Lord wishes to use. He promises to be with each of us. So, it’s now time to go ahead and get involved!
Holy Spirit, help me to be sensitive to Your voice and calling.
Help me, Lord, to be rid of the spirit of fear and hesitation, in order that I can be Your vessel.
