In the Darkness

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. –Psalm 40:1 NLT

In the midst of the darkest and scariest challenges imaginable, David acknowledged the presence of God in his circumstances. The Lord met him, heard his heart’s cry, and gave the provision David so desperately needed. In order to experience intimacy with God through salvation, we must first focus our eyes and our hearts upon Him. David’s unwavering trust and reverence for the Lord ultimately led to the Lord’s help. What may have happened to him without seeking God? We must remember to turn to the Lord, instead of others, for the meeting of our most desperate needs. We can rest with assurance, knowing that God always hears and understands our thoughts, needs, and struggles. No matter the extent of our deepest wounds, fears, or temptations, we need to wait patiently on the Lord with expectancy. He sees us, is eager to help, and hears every prayer.
