Jesus, Take the Wheel

He said: “Listen, Ling Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.’” –2 Chronicles 20:15 NIV

There are times in life when we feel out of control. It has been said that the day we think we’re in control of our lives, that is the most dangerous day of all. We have no control over the weather, an unexpected illness, or the death of a loved one. Control means security, and it means that we decide what happens when. Control makes us feel safe and can calm our fears. But it’s all an illusion or a facade, because we are never truly in control. We didn’t decide when to be born, and we won’t dictate our death. However, there is a better way. When we surrender our need for control and accept the fact that we don’t have all the answers, freedom comes. What if we began every morning with the prayer, “Father, what do You want me to do today?” What if we handed our lives over to the One who loves us unconditionally and accepts us as we are? No matter what comes, we’re not alone. No matter how much it hurts, good will come from it. Like a child trusting our Papa, He’ll show us the way. The battle is the Lord’s.

prayer focuses

Lord, why do I waste precious time trying to control everything? Help me surrender all to You, for I know You will sustain me.

Lord, please take control of my life.
