Lessons from the Beach – Part Five

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” –Psalm 32:8 NLT

A Walk in the Sand…

Walking barefoot in the sand parallels each one’s journey through life. The walker may be gliding along on a firm, smooth surface and then suddenly find himself gingerly stepping through jagged clusters of tiny shells. The straight, direct route along the shore becomes a series of zigs and zags as he tries to follow a path that provides the least discomfort. Seasoned beach walkers understand the challenges of the walk along the shore. They consider the timing, walking at low tide on the exposed firm surface. They also avoid areas that do not offer appropriate walking conditions. But, even with thorough planning, there are often challenges to face.

Similarly, even with careful planning, each of us will certainly be faced with difficulties throughout our lives. As followers of Christ, we need to allow our Lord to show us the way. He will guide us along as we navigate the challenges we face each day. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT).
