Lessons from the Beach – Part Six

Soaking Up the Sun…

What better place to soak up the sun’s rays than at the beach? Unimpeded by shadows from buildings and trees, the beach provides full access to this amazing star at the center of our solar system. Direct sunlight provides both emotional and physical benefits. When exposed to the sun, the top layer of skin produces endorphins, which ultimately produce feelings of happiness. Also, Vitamin D, which we absorb from the sun, is the most effective form of this micronutrient that is essential for our health. It is no wonder that so many people flock to the beach to soak up the rays.

Our Lord Jesus, the Great Healer, is the center of our Christian universe. He is our shining star and the light of the world. Where do we go to soak up His rays? We are exposed to Him at weekly church services as we sing hymns of praise and worship. He is with us at our small group Bible Studies, as well as in our quiet time in His Word and prayer at home. In His presence, we find healing, joy, and true happiness.
