As Solomon looked back on everything he had done in his lifetime, he saw that most of it seemed meaningless. Nothing apart from God made him happy. He had a lot of incredible earthly accomplishments, but without God, it was all meaningless. If we try to find meaning in our accomplishments rather than in God, we will never be satisfied, and everything we pursue will become wearisome. Psalm 39:5-6 (NIV) tells us that we are a mere breath, and “in vain
Father, help me to not get so wrapped up in what I’m trying to accomplish that I miss sight of what You want to do in and through me.
