More, more! NOT!

Why is everyone hungry for more? “More, more,” they say. “More, more.” I have God’s more-than-enough, more joy in one ordinary day than they get in all their shopping sprees…. –Psalm 4:6-7 MSG

Shopping? Did someone say shopping spree? Ooh baby! Count me in! A shopping spree may not look the same for everyone—some may look forward to going to the grocery store, the lumberyard, or a yard sale! But is that what you want? A temporary high that can only be found in the right convergence of events: the time, the place, the money, the item? Well, yeah, maybe sometimes. But really, you have what is needed for not just a joy-spree, but for an every-day, life-altering, joy—God’s “more-than-enough”! And it’s there, available, on a normal, “ordinary” day. Pretty cool!Oh Father, thank You so much for what You provide: life and breath, stability, hope-in-suffering, joy that can eclipse life circumstances, or a blink-of-an-eye high. Please remind me of Your “more-than-enough,” especially during those moments when I’m thinking “More, more.”

prayer focuses
