Needless Worry

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. –Proverbs 19:21 NIV

Life’s journey is filled with many unpredictable twists and turns. Some days from the moment you awake everything seems to be going well. On other days, you wished you had stayed in bed. There is little control over circumstances that occur, but you have the God who promises to be with you and never leave you. You can make plans; it is wise to do so. However, you can never know for sure if those plans will ever become a reality. James 4:13-15 says, “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’” Leave tomorrow up to God and put your trust in Him to handle it. He really is the only One who knows what is going to happen. So, don’t let worry about tomorrow overtake you—God is already there.

Father, let me seek Your will in all that I do and accept the outcome.

Father, I need help to find my rest in You.
