New Identity

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! –2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

Have you ever tried to walk forwards with your head turned facing backward? You will find very quickly that it is not easy! In fact, you will likely trip over something, including your own feet. The concept of not looking back relates to your walk with Christ, as well.

When you give your life to Christ, you are a new person! You have a new identity in Him! Everything in your past is swept away and wiped clean. Truly, the old life is gone; a new life has begun! Isn’t that amazing news? But the problem is, if you keep focusing on your past and turning back to look at it, you will easily get tripped up by it. It’s too easy to fall back into old habits or hold on to past mistakes when you are constantly remembering your old self. You will, in essence, trip over your own feet.

So start each day by walking forward, only looking ahead to what God has in store for THIS day. Read His Word every morning so that you can hear His voice and learn His plan and purpose for your future. Enjoy your NEW identity in Christ!
