For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. –Hebrews 13:14 NLT
We have all heard the expression, “There’s no place like home.” We hear it in movies, read it in books, and use it in conversations. For each of us, it expresses a yearning for a place to belong and rest. However, the homes we inhabit were never intended to be our permanent dwellings.
Jesus tells His disciples in John 14:2-3 (NIV), “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” The residence that Jesus describes is the home we long for. There is comfort in His words. Jesus went ahead of us to prepare our home in Heaven. We belong to Him, and He will come back for us. Life, as we now know it, will pass. But Jesus, our Lord and Savior, gives us blessed assurance for eternity. We will be free from pain, worry, and heartache. What a perfect heavenly home awaits us because of the Cross!
Thank the Father for sending His Son and for adopting you into His eternal family.
Praise God that eternity awaits where there will be no more tears or pain—the perfect home.
