I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 3:14 NIV
Do you find yourself following the same routine day in and day out? Are your days characterized by a lack of energy, the absence of focus toward reaching goals, or complacency? Such ruts are easy to fall into as they seem easy, comfortable, and safe. As a Christian, it is vital to resist the temptation. Failure to pursue a closer walk and relationship with God will lead to an unhealthy emphasis on self, failure in your call to serve others, and a greater tendency to give in to temptations.
Jesus calls us to be “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-14 NIV). Don’t forsake or waste your God-given talents on in-action or self-absorbing matters. Recommit your desire and hunger to know and serve God. Make Him your first love. Read His Word, pray often—especially in the morning—and set aside time each day to be with Him alone. As you draw near to God, His Holy Spirit will fill you with renewed energies, inspiration, vision, joy, and new purpose each day.
Lord, create a heart-felt desire in me to know You more and more each day and keep me from becoming complacent.
Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit and energies to be a blessing to others.
