For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. –Matthew 7:8 NIV
If-then sentences are conditional statements. “If” a certain condition exists, “then” there will be a specific result.
Proverbs 2:1-5 (NIV) is filled with this if-then relationship: “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
Wisdom is a valuable resource that God has made available to His children. The Lord has provided us access to this amazing gift in the Bible. IF we desire insight and understanding, THEN we must study and apply the truths of God’s Word to our lives. IF we make the effort to seek God with all our hearts, making Him our greatest priority, THEN we will find the wisdom and the understanding that we are looking for.
Thank You, dear Lord, for Your precious gift of wisdom.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you to grow in God’s wisdom and understanding.
