For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. –Psalm 91:3 ESV
God’s promise to you in Psalm 91:3 is that He will deliver you from two things—the snare of the fowler and the deadly pestilence. A fowler hunts birds. He sets baited snares to trap, kill, and eat them. This may seem totally acceptable and even necessary for survival (one has to eat), but not if you’re the bird. In this verse, the “fowler” refers to our enemy, the devil, who comes to kill, steal, and destroy. The “deadly pestilence” refers to any contagious, infectious, destructive epidemic, as well as any sickness, plague, or calamity. But, the Lord will “deliver you.” The word “deliver” means “to snatch you out and remove you from danger; to rescue, recover, and preserve you.”
God doesn’t just snatch you from danger. As He continues to watch, guard, and protect you, He removes you from perils while reviving and restoring you. Jesus is your Rescuer and Life Preserver. Receive this promise from your Father today, and declare it over your life.
Proverbs 3:26 (NLT) says, “For the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.” He will not only keep you out of harm’s way, but He will also give you shelter when you need it. Psalm 18:30 (NIV) says, “…He shields all who take refuge in him.”
Thank the Lord for His never-ending Presence with you and for His care and protection.
Praise God for His delivering and preserving power over your life, family, and friends.
