How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. –2 Samuel 7:22 NIV
Within each of us there is a desire to receive praise. It can be anything from a seemingly insignificant compliment to a jaw-dropping exclamation that brings credit and affirmation to something we’ve accomplished. God made us in His image, and He, too, desires our praise! We tend to forget that the Lord not only wants to hear about our struggles and requests, but He also wants us to express to Him how great He is.
Here is a quick mnemonic to remember the impact and benefits of praising the Lord.
P - Presence of God fills the room (2 Chronicles 5:13-14)
R - Removes the barriers to accomplishing the Lord’s plans (Joshua 6:20)
A - Anoints us in preparation for a new purpose or assignment (Psalm 23:5)
I - Ignites the fire of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:3)
S - Shakes off bondages (Acts 16:25-34)
E - Ends the devil’s plans (2 Chronicles 20:21-22)
