Taste and See

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. –2 Corinthians 2:14 NIV

What you put into your life has the power to alter the flavor of your entire being. When you soak in the fear, selfishness, and obsessions of the world, you shouldn’t be surprised when you give off the taste of bitterness of anxiety, pride, and indulgence. The longer you allow your thoughts to dwell on self-centered pursuits, the more you’ll find the essence of those attitudes seeping out through your actions and behaviors.Fortunately, this concept works FOR you as well. When you immerse your mind in the truths of God’s Word and submerge yourself in the Spirit, your life will exude the sweet aroma of life and peace (see Romans 8:6).Begin today to monitor your thoughts, being vigilant and wary of what you allow your mind to soak in, and then conscientiously strain out the things that can taint your attitudes. Instead, diligently fill your mind with God’s Word with a rich and fragrant brew of right thinking, letting the essence of your being so absorb the fruit of Scripture that your life gives off “the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him

prayer focuses

God, remind me of Your priorities. Help me dwell on them as I go about my tasks today.
