Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. –Ephesians 6:10-11 NIV
Ephesians 6:10-18 addresses putting on the full armor of God. The armor includes the following:
Belt of Truth: Truth guides our decision-making. Truth sanctifies and purifies. Truth is found in God’s Word. Truth frees us from the devil’s lies.
Breastplate of Righteousness: Righteousness is given to us by God. We are not righteous on our own.
Sandals of Peace: Peace with God is achieved through our relationship with Jesus. We must be prepared to share this gospel with unbelievers.
Shield of Faith: Faith extinguishes the fiery darts of doubt, denial, and deceit that the enemy shoots our way. Faith saves us. Faith heals us. Faith moves mountains.
Helmet of Salvation: This helmet insulates our minds and reassures us of our present and eternal salvation.
Sword of The Spirit (the Word of God): The Word of God is our offensive weapon. Jesus used it to overcome the enemy, and so can we.
Prayer: Communication with the Lord is the best armor against all trials.
When we became Christ followers, we became Satan’s target. He’s out to destroy us. We need to be aware of his tactics so we can stand our ground when he strikes. When we’re dressed in the armor that God has provided for us, we’ll be battle-ready to resist the adversary and his minions.
Thank God that you’re part of His spiritual army and that the battle against Satan has already been won through Jesus.
