The Lord look upon you with favor… –Numbers 6:26 NKJV
When you think about favor, it’s generally associated with receiving good things, so there’s a tendency to equate God’s favor with some form of tangible blessing or answered prayer. While that’s certainly one aspect of it, don’t make the mistake of linking the favor of your heavenly Father with always getting what you want. That’s because our interpretation of what’s good is famously flawed. We’ve all made the mistake of celebrating what is fundamentally bad for us and at the same time spurning what is ultimately beneficial. While it’s natural for us to have concerns and/or preferences about how we’d like things to go in this life, there’s a point when we need to yield to and understand the Father’s heart toward us. His love always shines on us, even when life takes us to places we never envisioned. Being “in Christ” assures you that you dwell continuously in God’s affirmation. So remember that all things that come from Him are expressions of His favor, whether you realize it at the time or not.
God, remind me today and every day that I have been highly favored by You through Your Son.
Jesus, in You are all my hopes. Please encourage my desire for truly valuable things that come only from You!
